In response to the email from Ann Edwards Burruss, and replies:
I found some dates for some of the people in question.
Frances King Burwell's headstone gives these dates:
Born Nov 14, 1814 and Died April 3, 1903
Charles Catlett's headstone dates are, Born July 12, 1845 Died Oct 7, 1917
I found this information at the following address:

Includes directions to Timberneck Cemetery.

YIKES....I can actually help you, I think! A Perry Catlett is listed on
the 1900 census in Ripley County MO, with wife Lucy E. and daughter
Mary H. His birth is given as Mar 1872, Lucy as Nov 1873 and the
daughter Mary
as Feb 1899. His occupation is given as blacksmith, and they owned their
home. I have been thinking he may be the brother of Lee Roy Catlett,
who was my grandfather. In that census, their parents appear to be from
the same locations. Please contact me directly and maybe we can unravel
this mystery!
Alice
By the way, if you want to look at the census online, go to rootsweb
state resources, then to Ripley County MO, and the census is posted
there. Perry is on page 114A. Enumeration District 97:13 and Supervisors
District 12. Lines 18, 19 and 20.

Hello everyone - I'm new to this list. My name is Jeannie Rabbitt. I'm
searching for Perry Edward Catlett, b: March, 1872, married to Lucy
Ellen Warren August, 1895, and died March, 1906. My family history
indicates Perry's father was John, a Captain in the Civil War, and his
mother was Sarah Martin, born in Northern Missouri.
Does this look familier to anyone? Thanks for any help.
In response to Ann Burrus and to Pam Mullinax who wrote <in part>:

However, we're left with confusion, too, as Stubbs provided an "1844"
marriage date to Frances King BURWELL coupled with a birth date of 12
Jul 1840 for Charles CATLETT, provided from _Epitaphs_of_Gloucester and
Mathews_Counties, p. 64. [I received a photocopy of this from Eleanor
Lyon Duke, fellow list member, however, no author information was
included in the photocopy]. Cousin Eleanor, if you're lurking ... do
you have the author information? On the other hand, Stubbs provided a
12 Jul 1845 birth date for Charles. The "epitaphs" book was probably
published well after the date of Stubbs and probably less reliable due
to more time having passed. Condition of headstone should be
considered, as well, at the time the author recorded the information and
other human factors also come into play.

> different.
The only other thing I'd add is that Ann Walker CARTER, wife of John
CATLETT (father of John Walker CATLETT) was also a CATLETT descendant.
Her parents were Charles "of Cleve" CARTER and Lucy TALIAFERRO. Lucy
TALIAFERRO was the daughter of William TALIAFERRO and Ann WALKER.
William TALIAFERRO was the son of Francis TALIAFERRO and Elizabeth
CATLETT.

The following link was sent to me last night by a CATLETT descendant in
Hawaii. It's an article on Internet genealogy, written by Bettie
Cummings Cook, CG posted on the Augusta County, Virginia site of
USGenWeb/RootsWeb.

Good reading. Food for thought.
