Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
Hello Karon and everyone,
I'm afraid my line is one of those broken links in the GREAT CATLETT
TREE! Here is my line...
John Catlett b. 1788 VA. d.bef.1870 Knox Co. KY.
+ Fereby Barnes Crabtree b. abt 1812/1816
Marriage record from Claiborne Co. TN. reads:
John _____ married Fereby Crabtree January 22, 1842
* I'm assuming this is John Catlett. I have not seen this document
myself yet...but plan to. A nice lady from Claiborne Co. TN. looked
this information up for me.
*Also Claiborne Co. TN. is a very short distance from Knox Co. KY.
Many people from Knox Co. KY. went over to Claiborne Co. to get
married.
John and Fereby lived in Fighting Creek, Knox Co. KY. The first record
of them in Knox Co. KY. was 1850.
Children of John and Fereby Catlett,
i. Mahala b.abt.1834
ii. Joshua b. abt.1836
iii. Selina b.abt.1840, d. June 27, 1910 Knox Co. KY.
iv. Louvina b. abt.1844
v. Elizabeth b. abt.1845
vi. Zelpha b. abt.1847
vii. John Franklin b.abt.1849
viii. Loucinda (Lucy) b.May 4, 1851
ix. James Madison b. December 1854*
x. William b.1860
The first two or three children...Mahala, Joshua, Selina, may be
Catlett children, Crabtree children or a "mixture" from both John and
Fereby's previous marriages. All of the children are listed as
CATLETT's in all of the Knox CO. KY. census'.
*Since John was much older than Fereby, I'm assuming he was married at
least once before...would love to find a record of that.

Hello everyone,
Welcome to the CATLETT mailing list on RootsWeb! By default your
replies will go to the list, so if you _want_ to reply to someone
privately, you will have to type the individual e-mail address into the
"reply-to" line in your e-mail reader. Otherwise, please post your
messages to the list. Let's get some of the CATLETT puzzles on the
table and maybe we can solve some of them as a team.
As a member of the CATLETT mailing list (or digest version), you are
encouraged to read Rootsweb's Acceptable Use Policy page (similar to a
Terms of Service agreement) at:
http://www.rootsweb.com/rootsweb/aup.html
During the past few months, GenConnect and Rootsweb have set up a
"cluster" of resources where you may search, read, post, and exchange
CATLETT information.
The URL for the CATLETT Resource page is:
http://resources.rootsweb.com/surnames/c/a/CATLETT/
Other surname resource clusters have also been set up, so you may want
to check those pages also. Use the MAIN SURNAME INDEX link to explore
these.
http://resources.rootsweb.com/surnames/index.html
Take some time and visit the GenConnect boards. There may be additional
categories added later, but for now the available boards are:
Queries
Bible Records
Biographies
Deeds (and Other Land Records)
Obituaries (and Other Death Records)
Pensions (and Military Records)
Wills (and Probate Records)
The boards are very easy to use. There are a few guidelines (mostly
about posting to the correct categories), so please read these before
you post anything.
Other resources available on the CATLETT Resource page include:
A calendar for recording events pertinent to the CATLETT surname.
Examples might include: reunion & contact information, anniversary
events (births, marriages, deaths), pre-publication information for
articles to appear in genealogical publications.
Links to CATLETT web sites (within RootsWeb and eventually outside as
well), Obituary Daily Times, RootsWeb Surname List (RSL), transcription
projects such as the Immigrant Ship Transcribers Guild (ISTG), Primary
Records located within the USGenWeb Archives, a search engine that
searches all of the RootsWeb Searchable Databases, a search engine that
searches Web pages and homesites located at RootsWeb, and the Surname
Helper search engine.
Links to the Mailing Lists at RootsWeb and two search engines that
search the lists' archives.
Classifieds at RootsWeb -- "For Sale" Board (genealogical items for
sale, to include books, services, materials, and equipment) and a
"Wanted to Buy" board (includes similar items as listed in the "For
Sale" Board.
Guestbook -- stop by and sign it. Let RootsWeb hear from you!
We all owe Rootsweb a debt of gratitude for setting up these great
resources. Please support them financially if you can.
