Ann Cathey Smith:
Here is what I have on Archibald. His brother (George's) descendants
migrated to AR, later TX. George married Eliza Carter.
Archibald Cathey (RN=7210) was born on 29 August 1799 in GA, the son of
George Cathey (RN=9694) (1760s-1840). Archibald's father apparently
settled in Stewart County, TN while Archibald was a small child.
On 24 June 1832, in Tennessee, Archibald married Mary Ann Baker who bore
him 7 children. Sometime during 1847-1849, Archibald settled in Izard
County, AR where he produced leather for use in making harnesses and
shoes. The following tabulation shows the Archibald Cathey households in
Izard County, Franklin Township over the 1850-1870 period.

Archibald died on 8 October 1870 and it is speculated that he was in
Tennessee visiting his younger brother, George
Cathey Jr. (1804-1877). The tombstone for Archibald is located in the
Hill Orchard Cemetery, Houston Co., TN.
Although originally in Stewart County, that area was included in the
newly formed Houston County in 1871.

George and Andrew has a sister Eleanor (could she have been a
sister-in-law?) who had three different husbands in Stewart County.
Can you investigate her? I don't have time!

My Cathey's went from GA to middle TN: Andrew and George. One of them had
two sons - George and Archibald. Archibald went to AK and George stayed in
TN. Archibald came back to visit George and died while visiting and is buried
in Hill Orchard Cemetary, Houston County, TN. Do you think that there might
be a connection? My George married Eliza Carter from GA. Let me hear from
you. Anne Cathey Smith
