Hello,
I am wondering if anyone can help me with my CATHEY family ancestors
that
was living in Alabama during 1830, 1840 and 1850. I do not have much
info on
the Catheys.
This is what I have. Rebecca Cathey married my great great great John
Neyman
in St. Clair County, Al on Feb 25. 1833. One of their sons is named
Archibald Charles Cathey. I think that Archibald Cathey would be the
father
of Rebecca. This is why I think that. In the 1840 census of Benton
County,
Al, which is now Calhoun County, Al, near the stateline of Georgia.
There
was a Archibald C. Cathey living in few doors down from John Neyman.
Archibald's age was listed 60-70 yrs and a female listed 50-60 yrs.
Archibald got a land patent for 40 acres in Cleburne Co. on Aug 5,
1837.
Cleburne was formed from Clahoun. Also, a JOhn C. Cathey was assignee
of
John Neyman for 40 acres in Cleburne Co. on 10/10/1839. Could John
brother
to Rebecca.
Rebecca age was listed in 1850 was 37, she was born in Tennessee, but
some
of the children listed her born in NC. Rebecca and John's children are
Margarette, Archibald, Jacob, Samuel, Elizabeth, James, Edy Caroline,
and
Mary A. Neyman.
There were other Cathey families living in North Alabama. Also, there
was a
Alexander Cathey in Perry County as early as 1830.
Hopefully, someone could help me.....
Thanks,
Tony Brazell
