Boyt, this is the first I've heard of Eleanor, dtr. of John, coming to America.
I have always seen that she died in County Monaghan??

During the past year, Dr. Henry Cathey of Harlingin, TX has spent enormous
effort on trying to connect the Catheys / Cathys of Ulster to those early
Catheys in America. His finding are in the latest Cathey Kith and Kin
newsletter. Basically he concludes that John Cathey who died in Pennsylvania
(1742) had two wives. The family groups are:
John & ????
Kids:
Mary b. 1685
Ann b. 1695
Sarah b. circa 1701 who married Samuel Givens Jr. (Sarah later marr.
Robert Allen)
Katherine b. 1703
John & Ann
Kids:
Alexander b. 1707 (leader of the Cathey Settlement in Rowan Co., NC)
Eleanor b. 1709 (mentioned in John's 1742 will who was still in Ireland)
She did migrate later.
NOTE: My ancestor George (wife: Jean - Jean buried in Meck. Co., NC) was the
son of Ann prior to her marriage to John. Jean was born 1692 the same period
as John's 1st set of kids. Supposedly George (birth unknown) was born
somewhere close to his wifes birth period. So, my George was half-brother to
Alexander and they were both active in obtaining land in NC during the late
1740s. It may be possible that George came to NC earlier than Alexander, who
apparently stayed in PA during John's terminal illness.
NOTE 2: James Cathey , also of the Rowan County settlement, will be
addressed later.
Serious researchers need to review Henry's conclusions - for he wants it
that way!
