James J. Cathey (RN=8053) is shown in the 1850 Lewis County, Tennessee, census in the
household of his father-in-law, Samuel Lisle, with the following:

Samuel Lisle must have been a widower. His age was 69.
The 1860 Maury Co., TN census shows a James as heading a household as follows:

On 12 Dec. 1865, James J. Cathey and Elizabeth Cathey, his wife, formerly Elizabeth
Lisles, of the one part and Thomas M. Kitrell of the other part ---$600 -- parcel of land
being one fourth of the tract owned by Samuel Lisle who died intestate. Land lies in
District No. 15, Maury County, Tennessee. -- undivided interest in said tract -- and
contains about 150 acres. (undivided tract 150A or her interest 150A.???

In December 1994, after considerable analysis, Jim Harmon, White Hall, AR concluded that
James J. was a son of Alexander Cathey (RN=2512) and his wife, Mary Malone (RN=2513). Some
facts which were used to reach the conlusion were:
- the close proximity of James J. to Alexander in the 1850 Lewis County, Tennessee,
census.
- the naming of two of his children Alexander and Mary.
- the fact that James Cathey (RN=432) who moved from AL to TN would have been much older.
He would have been in the 20-30 year bracket in 1840, Perry Co., AL and had one child.
