Subject: Cather marriage
Don,
...I saw this on the Internet and thought it may have a connection to our
Cathers:
Record of PA Marriages Prior to 1810, Vol II, Harrisburg. Lane S. Hart, State
Printer, 1880. Marriage Record of the Third Presbyterian,
Philadelphia,1785--1799.
Pg. 519 - 1787, Jan. 15, Gillis, Peter, and Mary Cather.
Edward Cathers was known to have been at Philadelphia. Could be a connection,
sister maybe. Just another clue.

Great find! This might explain the Cather/Gillis connection in Kentucky.
William Gillis may have been his cousin. Edward had a daughter Mary, and if
this Mary who married Peter Gillis is his sister, then perhaps their mother
was a Mary. Edward spelled his name Cather, not Cathers, just like the Mary
that you discovered and yes, he ventured to Philadelphia at least once. I
think this is a definite clue.
