My particular family branch traces its origin through documentation to 1790
Ireland or Scotland. This ancestor was William Cathcart b.1790? in
Tullygarley (or TULLAGHGARLEY), married Rebekah Bartholomew in 1st Ballymena
Parish of Kirkinriola, Antrim,NIR, 1815 and had at least one son John
Cathcart b.1816. William and his son John were linen workers and weavers.
John Cathcart had at least 2 sons William and David. William b.Nov.1841 was
a boot maker and had at least 7 kids, John George, David, Harriet, Eliza,
Virginia, Sarah, and a William d. age 5. John George, a cobbler, emigrated
to Canada in 1895, married Margaret Strong 1899 and where he had 10 kids
Between 1900 and 1920. His son Robert Alexander b. 1911, a casket maker, had
2 kids, Martin (Tim) b.Jan.8,1953 and Cinda b.Jan 9, 1958.
My cousin has had quite a time trying to unravel the family vine, as the
Father/Son names went William,John,William,John,William.....
We seem to be now hung up on William b.1790?
If anyone can shed light on Williams father or other family members we would
appreciate any correspondance. Perhaps William had siblings or cousins that
connect up to your family tree?
Thanks and good hunting
Tim Cathcart
