Hi Marcus,
I can't recall any James or forgotten the wife's name already.
My grandfather certainly had a sister named Annie who also came out to Australia with my
grandfather and at least one other brother from Glasgow but they were all born in
Ireland.
Just quickly looked Annie up she was an Annie Eliza and their parents were John Cathcart
married to Mary Hood.
I havn't done much family history stuff for a while now so I am a bit out of date but
I do know there is a huge Cathcar history in Scotland as well as Ireland.
Glasgow has a suburb called 'Cathcart'. And I am aware of a hisory of
Cathcart's involved with Queen Mary when she was fighting for the throne, so there is
huge history if you ever want to research it but it doesn't sound like your ancestors
are part of our particular tree but you have to have a go that is for sure.
I live in Toowoomba Queensland with my husband I will be 65 on Wednesday. We have a lot
of Cathcarts, floating around Queensland and New South Wales from our Grandparents, I
always wanted to chase up my father's side of the family but it has been difficult as
my maiden name is Simpson and of course my grandfater was born in Sheffield London so
great scope there.
Wish you well in your search,
Barbara Lutter
Toowooma.
