I am not related to this family. However, I am looking to verify the name, date, and place
of birth in Wyoming for each of Dallas Cathcart's children in conjunction with my
Wyoming Birth Records Project. URL is

additional information would be appreciated. Thank you. Vern
Dallas Clyde Cathcart was born in January 1881 in Reno Co., Kansas, son of James Albert
Cathcart and Ellen J. Hyde. James settled in Reno Co., Kansas, about 187---. Ellen had
the mumps during the early months of her pregnancy with Dallas which undoubtedly added to
her discomfort. Mumps and measles were prevalent in the neighbourhood and many families
had one, two, or more suffering at the same time. James and Ellen had the following known
children: Franklin P. (who also had mumps in 1880) Jennie Rose, William A., Dallas Clyde,
Florance Robert, Clarence Martin, Mabel Pearl, Alta Mae, Minna Adele, and Bert.
By 1900, Dallas and his brother Florance had left the family home. They were still in
Valley Township, but were living on the Sabin farm where they were working as farm
laborers for Martin Sabin.
Dallas married Stella Mabel Clark who was born January 11, 1887.
In 1910, Dallas and Stella Mabel, and his brother Florance and wife Maude, were lodging in
a rooming house on East Seventeenth Street in Cheyenne, Wyoming. Dallas was an oils
merchant working on his own account. Florance and Maude were living at 816 South Walnut
in Casper, Natrona Co., Wyoming, in 1918. From there, Florance registered for the World
War I Draft. He was working as a repairman for Standard Oil Company in Casper. He was
described as short and stout with blue eyes and light brown hair. They returned to
Cheyenne by 1930 where Florance was employed as a driver for a laundry company. Their
children were Albert F., Cleo C., and Ruby E.
By 1920, Dallas and Stella had moved to Casper, Natrona Co., Wyoming, where they bought a
home at 1060 Box Elder Street. The children, Wendell and Opal, were keeping Stella busy
while Dallas was working as a fireman at the oil refinery in Casper.
In 1930, Dallas and Stella were renting a house in Basin, Big Horn Co., Wyoming, for $25 a
month. By then, there were six children to support, all on Dallas' labor and odd jobs.
Dallas Clyde Cathcart died March 19, 1948. Stella Mabel Cathcart lived into her 90's
and died June 15, 1980. Both were buried in the Mount View Cemetery about 2 miles west of
Basin.
