Aloha Molly,
What a pleasant surprise? Hardly expected to hear from you!
What are the chances that there would be TWO Ann Eliza Cathcarts? So unlikely that I
didn't stop to think before I responded.
So glad you didn't let me lead you astray. After sending you the note, I remembered
that our Ann Eliza Cathcart married a Dr. Bettison and is buried in a family plot
(Bettison-Cathcart) Cave Hill Cemetery in Louisville, KY.
My immigrant grandfather, John Cathcart b. 1763 in Antrim, Ireland, came to the US in 1783
via Charlseton and Rock Hill, SC and eventually settled and farmed in Livonia, IN where he
is buried. He and his wife, Mary, cared for Ann Eliza after her mother died. Later, when
John passed away, Mary went to live w/Ann Eliza and her husband in Louisville.
I've very recently posted some historical Cathcart information (from the internet with
a bit of information from previous old-style research) on my "Carole Cathcart
Chun" Facebook page. If you're on Facebook, look me up and we can become
Facebook "friends", giving you access to the postings.
Much is on the internet now that could only be found in libraries two decades ago. If you
haven't visited Scotland, it's work the trip. It's amazing to be in a country
where people recognize your name and you see streets, places of business, golf courses,
and a village named "Cathcart". I think we're fortunate to know the very
first person of this family, Rainauldus de Kethcart.
Carole
