I am looking for a lead with my research. Any help most gratefully received.
My husband's maternal grandmother was HILDA SARAH CATHCART who was born
23.12.1887 at 12 Charlemont Terrace, Clontarf, Ireland to ROBERT CATHCART
and AMELIA(Hodges) Robert was a threshing machine engineer. Robert and
Amelia were married by licence 8.12.1882 at St. George's City of Dublin.
Amelia's father was a coastguard, Samuel Hodges and Robert's father was a
land agent called James.
Although Robert and Amelia were married in Dublin there are strong ties with
Northern Ireland possibly Antrim. Most of their children, Florence, Lily,
Hilda, Duncan, Harry, Edward, Victor and Maeri lived in the Portadown area
and were stanch Protestants.
Duncan's son Rex was the historian and newscaster 1950-1990 so does anyone
know of an autobiography for him? He was cremated in Belfast.
ROBERT died 23.11.1935 aged 87 AMELIA born 1859 and died 21.08.1934 aged 75.
The only ROBERT I can trace with JAMES as a father is ROBERT ch 10.09.1846
at Craigbilly, Antrim the son of JAMES CATHCART AND MARY MC CLURKAN.
Perhaps is someone is researching this family they can put me right.
Associated names are Eva WILLS, Agnes REDMOND(Germany),SHERIDAN probably
moved to Canada, KEOGH(photographers) HEATHER and DOYLE.
Many thanks for reading this.
