Jesse O. Cates
Services will be held at 2 p.m. today for Jesse Orville Cates, 62, of
Centralia at the Fenton Funeral Home of Centralia, with the Rev. Edwin
Burris, conducting. Burial will follow in Glendale Memorial Gardens of
Centralia.
Mr. Cates died Saturday at Springdale Memorial Hospital, Springdale,
Ark.
He married Maurine Clevenger September 22, 1943 in St. Louis. His wife
survives.
Mr. Cates was a member of the First Baptist Church, Centralia. He worked
33 years as a pole machine operator for the A.B. Chance Co. Following
his retirement in 1977, he worked for the Fair Auction Service,
Centralia.
Survivors also include three brothers, Johnny Cates of Zillah, Wash.,
Lonnie Cates of Arnold, Mo. And Hubert Cates of Springfield, Mo.; three
sisters, Tilla Baker of Ellington, Mo., Ida Tucker of Thayer, Mo., and
Wilma Pepmiller of Columbia; one son, David Cates of Centralia; three
daughters, Nadine Graham of Corning, Ark., Margaret Ann Atkinson and
Debra Sue Fair, both of Centralia; 17 grandchildren and 11 great
grandchildren.
Mr. Cates' son Ralph Eugene Cates and a sister, Mildred Siegrist, died
earlier.
The family requests memorials be sent to the Missouri Heart Association.
