The American Battle Monuments Commission has 24 overseas military
cemeteries that serve as resting places for 125,000 American war dead
and memorialize more than 94,000 missing U.S. servicemen and women.
The Commission maintains databases of the records of the casualties
that are buried in the cemeteries or listed as missing -- a total of
176,399 records (there were 405,399 American casualties in WWII):
Americans in WWI and WWII cemeteries overseas; the MIA from
WWI and WWII memorialized in the cemeteries and on 3 memorials in the
U.S.; those killed worldwide during the Korean War; the Commission
also has listings of War Dead and veterans of the Mexican War, Civil
War and Spanish-American War who are buried at the ABMC cemeteries in
Corozal, Panama, and Mexico City. You also may view WWII Army and Air
Force casualties from a specific Unit or by State or Cemetery.
