I am the person whom posted the Cherokee Information for the CATES family line. I am a
member of the Chickamauga Cherokee Indian Creek Band. As mentioned in the original

you all of the CHEROKEE CATES names [or look back in my email below which lists a fraction
of the families].

you will get further information on your family. Your additional information resides with
the tribe not in white records. I would be very interested to see your DNA results or if

Subject: Re: [CATES] Cates, CHEROKEE
I feel that the emails you have sent regarding the Cates American Indian
family give me hope.
I have a gggrandfather : Isaiah Cates Day. He was born in shelby Tn in 1812.
the land is adjacent or within a Cherokee reservation. I know his mother was
Mary Cates, but do not know her parents name. I can find no record of his
Day family. I did see a John Day on an early census.
Isaiah Day came to Texas and became a cattle raiser. He married twice.
(Whitlock and Munson) The Munson bride was my gggrandmother.
A DNA test showed I had twenty five percent American Indian in my maternal
side, which would be the Cates and Day side. I have good records of most of the
other ancestors. Which makes this more of a possibility.
I would be so grateful if anyone else has any of these names or if they know
any thing about our family of Cates and Day.
Thank you,
Jane Matthews
Texas
