As list manager of Cates-L, I don't like to see virus warnings run through
the mailing list, however, these two viruses seem particularly dangerous.
Below is the information from C-Net. Be careful out there, folks.

Holiday-themed worm deletes Windows files
December 19, 2001
Vol. 1, No. 3
Just in time for the holidays, w32.Reeezak.a@mm arrives as an
e-mail with "Happy New Year" as the subject line, then attempts
to delete your Windows System subdirectory, redirect your
Internet Explorer to a political Web site, and disable popular
antivirus software. Another new worm, W32.Gokar.a@mm, also
disables antivirus software (without deleting Windows files).
Obviously, you're best off avoiding infection in the first place,
so in this issue, I've included my basic steps to protect your PC.
Also, to get some perspective on how these recent worms have
affected businesses and users across the Internet, I've
included a link to
News.com stories covering Goner, BadTrans.B,
and other recent viral attacks. With a little patience and
persistance, you too can have a computer virus-free holiday
season.
