BRANCHES INFO
Hi Estelle!
Well, we don't know where in TN our John "Richard" CATES was born or if he
had siblings. "Richard" ends up in Jack Co., TX and I have him in 3 census
periods. His children migrate to OK Indian Territory. I am told they share
cropped for a while on Indian land.
I always hoped to find "Richards"siblings, at least that would help. My
cousin thought we might be related to a Charles CATES, whose descendants
were supposed to have ended up in Wise Co.,TX. He was reading a book from
a
Cliff D. CATES on the history or pioneers of Wise Co., TX, which is
next
door to Jack Co., TX. But, in the process of reading the book and feeding
me
information, he had a family emergency. So, I am on hold.
We were also looking at a Charles CATES we found in an LDS website record
who was b.1807 and d. 3 Dec 1869 in Lawrence Co., MO. He had a son Obed C.
CATES as well as a "John" b. in "1839". This Charles was m. twice. I
saw
on
this list the name Obed C. Cates recently. The person mentioned a
John H.
but the middle name did not match our John. I did not have a chance to
respond to that posting posting yet. When I looked for this Charles the
only
one I found was one from Washington TWP, Stewartsville P.O., Dekalb
Co.,
MO
and was totally different. His wife was Nancy (last name probably
WILLIS).
Their descendants probably ended up in TX.
>From my research I found out an earlier territorial Lawrence Co., MO was
later in Arkansas and people commonly went back and forth across the state
line. Perhaps a lot of MO CATES are related to the ARK CATES?

I have been looking four years and I am really getting frustrated.
