Hello Liz,
I appreciate your reply. I am always willing to share my genealogical
information.
I have accumulated a good bit of information over the past 38 years of
research. I have a lot more info on the whole Cates family that most folks
want to know. If you are interested I will snail mail you specifically the
information I have on your lineage, that of Robert. My computer program is
not set up to send email.
At this time I do not have the information as to where our lineage came
from. I have submitted my DNA for genealogical matching.
I still have not received a reply from Cindy. Did not mean to offend her but
I have often wondered if she ever received the info I sent her. Truth of the
matter is if she did I hope she threw it away because I have made many
revisions since 1998.
Genealogy research is always a work in progress.
Bye,
Dan B. Cates

Dear Cousin Dan,
Thank you for replying to my query. I am saving the information you
provided. The names Wiley and Sampson I had heard my grandmother and her
siblings
mention. I intend to do research on this family and, when I find out
anything
else about them, I will contact you.
I would like to know what part of Scotland, Ireland, or England my relatives
came from. I know that my dad's side, the Wordens, originated in
Lancashire,
England. The word Wor comes from wier which was a dam and den which was a
valley. I just don't knew if they had any Viking ancestry. That is another
thing, beyond identifying different family lines; I have heard that you can
have
DNA tests that can show if you are part American Indian. Years ago when I
was
a student at UT at Austin in Texas, I was sick and a university doctor did
my
DNA profile for something like $10 (with the technology that was available
at
the time). It came back that I was some rare kind of "type" with some
markers
or indicators seen in Sweden and almost nowhere else (like in a subgroup of
Swedish people in one area), although, to my knowledge, my ancestors came
from
Ireland, Scotland, and England, with a little Dutch and French and possibly
American Indian added in. I wish I still had that form he gave me with the
information on it. It is amazing what they will do at a university health
center
for almost no money; I got a complete DNA profile done. I don't know what
he
was really looking for, an answer to why I got sick so often, I think.
Thanks again Cousin Dan. What do you all think about getting some kind of
DNA test done that would show nationality of ancestors? Is that really
possible?
Thanks again.
Sincerely,
Liz Worden
