Hey, Cuz!!
I'm going to recruit one of my uncles. Hopefully, I'll be seeing at least
one at Easter time.
I think what's important here too is finding or attempting to figure out who
Joseph's siblings were also.
The Bedford Co TN census helps somewhat. And I've been thinking that Timothy
Cates may have been a nickname for Thomas.
I've still been doing a lot of census work on this. Haven't heard from you
in awhile.
Also want to get up to Arkansas this spring again. Maybe we'll actually get
to meet face to face.
Hope to talk to you soon.

Joseph Cates b. 1808 Orange Co, NC
md. Edna Kirk b. 11 June 1810, d. 1891 Greene Co, MO.
her father: Elisha Kirk b. 1780 of Orange Co, NC ,
her mother: Elizabeth Dorman b. 1782 Orange Co, NC
Still looking for Joseph's father, Joseph was in the 1830 census of
Bedford
Co, TN
he married Edna there in abt 1827. They moved in the 1840's to Macoupin
Co,
IL for a short time before settling in Greene Co,MO where he died in 1854.
they have 9 children. I am hopeful that I can find a living male Cates
descendant who would be glad to take the DNA test.
If anyone should know more abt my family please feel freet to post to the
forum or contact me personally.
Thanks ,
Susan
