I am a new subscriber and am researching my Cates family.
Matilda Cates (no maiden name nor name of husband, must have been a widow)
Matilda is in the 1860 MO Census.
Son John F. Cates, b. 1833 m. Delia (Delhea) abt. 1854. They are in the 1970
MO Census.
Children were Catherine, Benjamin, Martha Ann, John, Lorenzo, and Elinora
Cates.
Martha Ann m. Ephraim Albert Moss October 13, 1881 in Pike Township, MO.
Martha Ann and Ephraim are my g.grandparents.
The 2001 Kentucky Ancestors V37-2 genealogy magazine has a Mystery Album
page on page 120. There are 8 photos of different Cates. I copied the page

19 May 1919, Berea), who lived in Madison County.
2)Identified on back as John Cates. Appears to have been taken in a school
classroom.
3)Identified on back as Mable Cates.
4)George and Nannie Cates were the parents of Mary (b. circa 1914), Lewis
(b. circa 1917), and Elizabeth (b. circa 1919).
