Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
Nancy,
The earliest Cates ancestor that I can confirm in my gggrandfather. He was
John W.Cates who married a (Maggie?)Mitchell in GA. One of their sons was
Otis Mitchell Cates. One of his three children was my grandfather, John
Edward Cates. I have not been able to determine where the line moved to GA
from.
Ed Cates
Jean and everyone,
If there hasn't been much activity on the list for awhile, how about a Roll Call? There may be new subscribers since the last one. Send a few lines, telling us which branch of the Cates family tree you're interested in. You never know when a cousin is waiting to be found.
