Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb

I see where your Cate's start in 1808. In the book I have and on the
pages I sent you it starts before that. These are Cate's from Orange County,
NC. I loaned the book to A cousin, But when I get It back I will make copies
of all the pages and snail mail to you, OK.

I noticed the name LECROY in this posting. It is just an off chance but
I have a family where the name started out as LeCroix but when followed
through the various census becomes Luke Roy or LeRoy or Lecroy and
finally in my family just plain Roy.
My line starts with John LeCroix who is believed to have come to NC from
Canada. By 1807 he was in Dickson County TN. His son Ephriam moved from
TN to AR after his wife died. Ephriam had several children, most of whom
were raised by relatives. His daughter Ann Jane Roy was my ancestor.
Since Lecroy is not a real common name there could be a connection.Hope
this helps.

Thanks to those that replied to me.
I did find out that the McCuan list is defunct now,
and that is a shame.
Cate(s) and Wood list seem to be the most active.
Atwood is the next. The McFarland list I get
sometimes and then none or just catch one or two that
look as if I stepped into the middle of someones
conversation.
Without my "lists" I would still be floundering in the
dark. Especially the Cate and Wood.
I have only one Cate in my tree, but she was a great
influence on me. Nancy Cate b.1775 I believe Orange
Co. NC died Oct. 24, 1840 Fentress Co. Tennessee.
Married William Wood March 22, 1796 Orange Co. NC.
I have as her parents Robert Cate and Mary Ann
Randall.
This may be wrong I am not positive. Robert is
descended from Robert "The Shoemaker".

Hi Charlie,
Something outrageous is happening here! I am in the process of
changing my email address to a new one, so in order to make the change with
rootsweb.co mailing lists, I unsubscribed from 14 inactive mailing lists
(including CATE-L) yesterday, and received a confirmation email that I have
been unsubscribed.
So, why an I still receiving email from CATE-L(a)rootsweb.com?
Granted, this is the first time I have unsubscribed from this list since I
subscribed to it in February 1998, but I do plan to resubscribe with my new
email address. I don't want any bounced mail that will get me booted.
Have a great day,
Don Stanton

You are correct there, Don. Anyone subscribed to the Cates-L list will
receive their messages right away. The Cates-D list is set for delivery
every
12 hours. I have noticed there has been little activity, but more people are
subscribing (good for us).

I don't seem to be getting all of my List's messages.
I am running a test.
I made an inquirey on one of the list and didn't get
it returned as usuall. I have not seen any activity
on most of my lists.
