Periodic update: December 2013
Given that Genetic Science is a relatively new branch of "Science", there
are and will continue to be redefinitions of how our Haplogroups are
defined. The redefinitions can cause real consternation if you're trying to
make sense of the "Science".
Currently, the U106 branch of the Greater R1b Haplogroup is redefined as
"Germanic" though the Greater R1b group remains defined as Celtic. I'm not
quite sure how one can have an Oak branch on a Maple tree but that's the way
it's being defined at present. The argument is that U106 is Celto-Germanic,
which appears to me at least, to be an unfortunate choice of nomenclature.
The problem that arises is; that it moves our origins and migration patterns
half way across the map.
At-this-point in time, I recommend that we look at the various definitions
and redefinitions with a jaded eye. There is so much political-agenda driven
influence in "Science" today that I've come to seriously doubt most of the
"new research" as being objective or accurate.
Hopefully, in time truth will win out.
Regards and Happy Thanksgiving!
