I took the liberty of copying the DNA study data (without any identifying
information), photos of family members, and some other misc. info to a
friend of mine who is an anthropologist with the University of Cincinnati.
The only line with enough information for him to work with was Line #1.
Here's his professional take on that data: Genetically, The line came from
the area of the Scottish lowlands near Campsie Fells and Sterling Castle. He
thinks the strong genetic link to the Kinkaid family is significant in that
it points to an area of recent origin. He seems to think that our lines
would go back to the Celtic Brigante or Parisi Tribes (his money is on the
Brigante) which would account for the broader genetic distribution into
Briton. He says that physiologically, we're definitely Celtic. "Classic
Celtic body types and facial structure" were his exact words. He suggested
that the members of Line #1 spend some time researching our family in the
Scottish archives. He said they are extensive.
Though it doesn't help anyone find their ancestors at this point, it's an
interesting bit of colour, though it kinda made me feel like an old bone...
Oh well! :)
