Hi Folks,
Since the parentage for the Robert CATE(S) of Weakley Co, TN of 1840
Census has been established, I am still trying to find Robert D. CATES b
poss SC, lived near Shelbyville, TN in 1830 that was the s/o of James F.
CATE of SC,
and the f/o Wilson G. CATES b 11 Mar 1811 NC d 7 Jan 1884 Dawson's Springs,
Hopkins, KY.
Now, Wilson G. CATES was supposed to have been married to a Miss ___?
before his marriage to Rebecca Sharp LONG in 1839, and poss had a son named
Wilson, Jr (this is speculation based on naming patterns for children). His
first son by Rebecca was Samuel J. (also the first name of Rebecca's
father), their second son was Robert D., and the third son was John Green
(possibly named after a great grandfather).
Since there has not been a James F. CATE b in 1700's in SC or NC been
found, I was thinking that maybe instead of the name being James, could it
have been a John F. CATE?
Did Thomas CATE, s/o Robert CATE, lived in SC then later NC, have a son
named John? If so did that John CATE have a son Robert? I found a
coincidence that makes me think that maybe there is relationship with
Thomas, because Thomas CATE named a son Joseph William and John Green CATES
named a son Joseph William.
When one cannot find the needle in the heystack, then one has to look at
all other possibilities. Anything is possible?
Have a nice day,
Don Stanton
