Also, how does everyone deal with the CATE/CATES name in their
databases? Do you try to enter it exactly as recorded in documents
over time, with the variation? Obviously, when a line has been CATE
right up to now, it makes sense to enter it as such. In other cases,
it seems to make sense to just record it as CATES to avoid the
confusion of duplicate entries and so forth. Are there database tricks
that I should know about to handle this?
After looking over my index of CATE's (used as plural - not to be confused
with CATES) and I find I have been totally prejudiced when it comes to the
spelling. In my database of thousands of CATE's, I only have 4 CATES.
I've got to admit though, that I am one of those that has skipped over many
CATES because of the spelling of the name. This discussion definitely
makes me realize that is probably a big mistake and not one that I will
make again.
