Sounds great to me Sydney, now as one of these Alabama CATES decendants,
PLEASE help tie us all in. Can't speak for everyone else, but to go back
another 4 or 5 generations, I would GLADLY claim CATE if I could prove it! :)
I posted my information just a few days ago, but now I am looking for another
connection. There is a John Cates (I know there are a million John Cates) but
this one was a Chief Justice in Bibb County Alabama around 1815-1820. He
served with Littlepage Sims and several other important pioneers of early
Alabama.
I hope to tie him in with my John Cates married to an Elenor_________ Cates
who lived in Bibb County about the same time.
Any clues? Will take CATE, CATES, or any other spelling that you can prove!
Thanks, ~~Liz Clayton :)
