While I appreciate the compliments I really do not deserve them. If you
will notice quite a few of the items you see are ones that I have forwarded
from another site.
I know that some of the Lawrence surname residents of early yrs were
ancestors of my husband's Lawrence line... and many of them were members of
the Lost Creek MM in Jefferson CO TN. I can't not recall any
Cate-Lawrence/Larrance marriage involving his line of the Lawrences that
were there at that time.
Church and court are the major records that will show you what was occurring
in Jefferson CO Tn in the early yrs. If you can read a COMPLETE transcript
of the church records you can often see details that the transcriber missed.
You really have to 'play detective' to try to solve some of the genealogy
puzzles and you can NEVER just assume something. You MUST have a 'paper
trail' that leads you to the answer...and alot of the time, it will not be
the answer you had hoped for. No matter how insignificant something seems
you should always follow up on it.
I cannot stress enough the value of networking. I tell all that the
Internet has made genealogy research so much easier than it was when I
started in 1964. It is true that you still need to verify the data but at
least, you are possibly seeing data you would not have seen in the past.
There are alot of people that will not/ cannot go to a gen lib or FHC but
they will sit at home in front of the computer and feed us their data.
To those people I say "I TRULY appreciate your kindness".
