Hypotheses:
In reference to the two groups: C1 and C2 of the Cates Y-DNA study, there
are strong indications that these two groups have resulted from two distinct
progenitors. The progenitors appear to be related but at a considerably
greater distance than that which would suggest a separation during the
period of time that we associate with the family occupation in America. In
short, two related but distinct males appear to be responsible for the two
different lines. The statistics suggest that this separation was
approximately 600 years ago.
To prove or disprove this hypothesis we will need to insure that the members
of both lines extend their markers to 67.
If this hypothesis can be proven true it would answer a great many questions
concerning various branches of the families' relationships. It would also
require that many of us reevaluate the relationships as we have them
currently laid out.
Those members in the study, who have not done so please consider extending
your markers to 67. I recognize that this is a tough time of year to do so
but hope you would consider doing so as soon as you're financially able.

Bruce
