Okay Everyone out there in cyberspace:
I would like to hear from all of you wonderful Cates Clanspersons who have a
Thomas Cates in you lineage that might just might be the father of my Joseph
Cates b. 1808 Orange County, NC and married to one Edna Kirk b. abt 1813
same place. They were in Bedford Co, TN in 1830 , Macoupin Co, IL, 1840,
Greene Co, MO 1850.
1854 Joseph died and is buried in Fruitland Cem in Greene Co, Mo
What I am looking for is the Thomas Cates who were in the 1820 Orange
County, NC census who had sons under the age of 5. Also, I do know there was
a possible sister named Martha Cates who married to Samuel Allen Womble who
was living right next door to Joseph in 1830 in Bedford Co, TN.
For a long time I was convinced that a John Cates was the possible father of
Joseph and still consider that a good chance.
Now, the next item I have is if anyone has access to the actual microfilm of
1830 Bedford county census, could you PLEASE PLEASE look at where Joseph is
located on that film and check to see if there is a Claudin or Clandin Cates
living 2 doors away from him? This is a great mistery to me and I think a
possible viable link in finding the father of my Joseph.
I am so sorry this post is so long, but I am getting the crazies from trying
to solve this puzzle.
Thanks to all and anyone who will respond to a crazy lady possessed by the
genie bug and who is willing to help her in her plight.
This list is a great one and let's keep helping each other , maybe we just
might figure out all of the Cates messes and be able to go onto those other
wonderful lines we are all being driven just as insane with.
Regards to all,
Susan in OKC where the wind blows CONSTANTLY! {grins}
