Aug 9 1701 Robert Cate's names appeared first time on certificate of
acceptance at Curles MH a Henrico co. (Vol 6 Henrico, VA MM, page 162)
Dec 7 1722/23 Robert signed an a m certificate of a ceremony held in
Burleigh MH, Prince Co. VA He signed again in 1724 ( Vol 6 Henrico,
MM page 162)
Surname Cates:
1833, 5-25 Rachel received on certificate (Vol. 1, Lost Creek MM, page
1116, North Carolina)
1869. 9-25 Elizabeth received on certificate (ditto)
1870, 9-24 Minerva Evaline received on certificate (ditto)
Surname Kate not found
Surname Kates
Ann Lipencott Thorne (daughter of Moris Thorne and wife Marie)
reported her marriage out of unity (non Quaker) 1893, 12-21 to Ewalt R
Kates. (Vol 6, Alexandra MM, page 759, VA)
Surname Kirk
No Edney Kirk was found. There were to many mentions of the name of
Kirk to post here without further information.

family from Orange Co. NC, specifically Joseph CATES, born about 1808

Orange Co., NC. He married Edney KIRK in 1832 (I believe) in TN.
