On Charlie's website, I found John CATES married to Lydia Roundtree l listed
as son of Robert and Maryann CATE of Orange. I have this John CATE mar #1

Person Co., NC. Sources on family sheet are listed as Kates Kin Vol 4 no 2
April 1981 Will of John names chn and a letter from Betty Potter.
Chn: same as on site 1. Ranson Cates b. 1795 mar 1819 to Edy Sweaney and was

Louise, the website you're referring to is the 1800 Orange County census.
Susannah TAPP did marry John CATES on November 18, 1793. Their child was
Ransom CATES, born 1795. On November 5, 1799, John CATES married Lydia
ROUNTREE. The rest of the children you have listed there are hers and John's.
John was the son of Robert CATE, Jr. who married Mary Ann Randall.
I have no information that links John CATE/s with Person County, NC. Robert,
his father, was born about 1752 in Orange County, and his will was signed in
Orange County November 5, 1765.
John shows up on the 1800 census in Orange County, NC.
Will Book 7, page 88, Orange Co., NC lists wife, Lydia and children: Ransom,
Rufus, Newel, Elizabeth, Susannah, Salley, Lucretia, Jane, and children's
grandfather, Robert Cates) January 12, 1816
This is a link to a map of that area. Maybe it will help others too.
