CONSTITUTION OF CHURCH AT DECATUR, TENNESSEE, FORMED 1827
The Friday before the 4th Saturday of September, 1827, the government of the
Pisgah Baptist Church of Christ met after divine worship and proceeded to
business:
1st invited brethren of ours forth in order to sit with us.
2nd opened our doors for the reception of members.
3rd called for reference.
4th Agreeable to a petition sent to the Pisgah Baptist Church of Christ, came
forward Daniel Briggs and Philip Scober as presbytery and set apart the
following members as a church to keep house for the Lord, to-wit:

Ava CATE was daughter of Robert ELDER (& (1) Sarah Moore)ap, wife of Daniel
CATE. Andrew and Elizabeth Kincannon were witnesses to will of Matthew ELDER,
Botetourt County, VA. 1783 (Annals of Southwest Virginia, 1769 - 1800, by Hon.
Lewis P. Summers).
Matthew Elder died in Washington Co., VA. 1783, he had been a resident of
Botetourt County prior to Washington Co., VA. (ap) The majority of the above
