This Indenture made this sixth day of March 1798 between John CATE and
his wife Mary of the county of Sevier and State of Tennessee of the one
part and George CLEEK? of county of Washington and State of Virginia of
the other part. Witness that the said John Cate for and in consideration
one hundred and sixty six dollars and two thirds to him in hand paid the
receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath and by these presents doth
grant bargain sell ... and confirm unto the said George Cleek his heirs
forever a certain tract or parcel of Land containing one hundred and
twenty five acres be the same more or less lying and being in the County
of Washington aforesaid and granted to the said John Cate by Pattent
bearing date the 22 of May 1793 on both sides of Possum creek a North
branch of the North fork of Holstein river and bounded as followeth to
wit. Beginning at the bank of the creek at a beech corner to ? Land and
with a line thereof south 19 degrees West 86 poles to a white oak thence
leaving ...south 64 degrees West 228 poles crossing the creek to a white
oak thence to Morrisons land thence North 15 degrees West 120 poles
crossing the creek to a white oak thence North 24 degrees East 326 poles
the the Beginning ...
John Cate and his wife Mary hath hereunto set their hands and seal the
day and year above written.

This Indenture of bargain and sale was proved in court by the oaths of
Ezekiel Runnolds Michael Runnolds and John Stout witnesses thereto and
ordered to be recorded.

This Indenture made the sixth day of March 1798 between John CATE & his
wife Mary of the County of Sevier and State of Tennessee of the 1 part &
Ezekiel REYNOLDS of Washington County and State of Virginia of the other
part. Witness that the said John Cate for and in consideration of the
sum of forty pounds Virginia money to him in hand paid ... doth grant
and confirm unto the said Ezekial Reynolds his heirs a certain tract of
Land containing one hundred acres more or less Lying and being in the
County of Washington granted said John Cate by Pattent - 28 May 1793 in
bushy Valley and on the waters of Possum Creek a branch of the North
fork of Holstein river and bounded as follows. Beginning at the foot of
the ridge at 2 populars, corner to Davaults land, East 320 poles
crossing a branch to a stake - south 4 degrees East 50 poles to a beech
- West 320 poles to a black oak in Devalls line - with same line North 4
degrees West 50 poles to Beginning...
John Cate and his wife Mary hath hereunto set their hands and seals the
day & year above written.

land in Washington county by virtue of a Treasury Warrant dated the 12th
day of December 1783 Wt. N. 21261 lying in the brushy Valley on the
waters of Opossom Creek a branch of the North fork of Holstein River and
Beginning at the foot of the ridge at two poplars corner to Devaults
land from thence East 320 poles crossing a branch to a black oak & a
gum, S 4 E 50 poles to a white oak, West 320 poles to a black oak on
DeVault's line & with the same N. 4 W. 50 poles to the first station.

Surveyed for James Creeson assignee of William Cates one hundred acres
of land in Washington County by virtue of a Treasury Warrant No. 21261
dated the 12 day of December 1783 lying in the garden on the waters of
Possom Creek a branch of the North fork of Holstein river and Beginning
at the foot of a ridge at a large ash corner to his own survey from
thence East 220 poles to a chesnut and an ash on the side of a ridge.
North 78 poles to a white oak; West 220 poles to a black oak on his line
with the same South 78 poles to the first station. 15th of Jany 1787.
