The following is Cate data from the Minutes of the Holston Baptist
Association Meetings:
First - a couple of notes - - in the beginning It was call HOLSTIEN rather
than HOLSTON.
Second - the name was DUMPLING rather than DUMPLIN.
The first entry I have found with the CATES/CATE name is for 1797.

The 1979 meeting was held at Coonby's Meeting House on French Broad River in
Jefferson County, August 11, 12, 13, 1979. Letters from twenty churches were
read and the following accounts taken:
