HI:
I have been monitoring these e-mails on Arkansas Cate Line, I'm a descendent
of John SR> James> Baldwin> Mary Cate (Foster). Also I'm President of Trust
Fund for James Baldwin Cate Cemetery, locate approximately 2 mi. from
Dumplin Church Cemetery where Baldwin's grandfather John Sr. is buried. We
have Tombstones in cemetery where brothers have spelled name Cate & Cates.
I'm also researching Foster line. William Foster Moved his family to
Arkansas from Jefferson Co. TN in 1850's, he was back in Jefferson Co in
1870 where his son Joseph married Mary Cate daughter of Baldwin Cate.
William was in Saline Arkansas 1860.
William returned without his wife, 2 daughter and son. He also returned with
a 12 yr. old grandson. I suspect a Foster Connection to Cate line prior to
Joseph & Mary being married in 1879. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

Hi All,
Just thought I would jump in with our 2 bits
worth. Margie descends from Isaac's brother,
Aaron. We don't have much on Manard line.
According to a Cate lady in Roane Co. TN,
"Around here, if you are known as Cate, you
are a Democrat. If it is Cates, Republican".
