A phamplet was on the tabel at my gen meeting this morning with the title of The PIONEERS of MAINE and NEW HAMPSHIRE 1623 to 1660 by Charles Henry Poe, pub 1908.
pg 7 JAMES CATE, of Portsmouth, a carpenter, had a bill against the town on 4 Feb 1660-61. He died May 15, 1677; administration granted to his widow, Alice. Mary Partridge, age 59 thereabouts, deposed on 8 June 1702, that she knew that Edward Cate was born about 47 years ago, the first child of James and Alice Cate. Other children shown in the probate papers were: John Cate, Rebecca Cate (wife of John Urin), Sarah Cate (wife of Peter Babb), Mary (wife of Samuel Whidden) and Elizabeth Cate.
I looked for mention of the dghts' husbands but above is all that I found.
