Hello,
I am looking for any information on "Tealy" Catchings. I do not know for
certain, but I believe this was just a nickname as I have no other name to go by. Tealy
would be my great-grandfather. He had four children who were placed in an orphan's
home in Harris, County, Texas around 1910-1912. The only information I have about his
spouse was that her name was Elizabeth Stone.
I have found the following information about Tealy from the 1900 census: born in Texas
July 1873, both parents born in TN, he lived in Bastrop Co., Texas at time of census,
occupation was listed as farmer, at the time of census he lived in close proximity to
David Catchings (born Oct. 1868) and Frank Catchings (born May 1871). From what I can
tell from the 1880 and 1900 census, it appears that Tealy might possibly be the son of
Andrew J. Catchings (born 1826). Also, the 1880 census shows another Andrew Catchings
(born approx. 1859) living with another family in Bastrop County. I do not know what line
this person belongs to. Is there anyone who has came across Tealy in their research and
can shed some light on this? Or does anyone have any information regarding his (or his
wife's) date/place of death?
I will be glad to share any information I have. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks,
Rob
