Julia Catchings was my Great Great Grandfather, Francis Emory Catchings'
sister. Francis fell in love with a half black half white woman that worked
in his kitchen. Her name was Ammie Alexander. When Francis died, Julia
kicked all of Francis' children off of the farm. My great grandfather
Timothy then moved to Mitchell County GA. His brother Walter went to work on
another farm and later moved to Missisippi.
If we are talking about the same Julia, I didn't know that she was murdered.
I don't know how Lavina Catchings is either. Do you know who her father
was?
Thanks for the information!
Joy

The Catchings family moved from Greene County, Georgia to Ft. Gaines and
Early County, Georgia a long time ago. Do you know about the Catchings girl
that was murdered about 1916 I believe her name was Julia Catchings. The
story goes she was sitting on the porch with her sister when it happened. I
Believe you are related to Lavina Catchings who married a Mr. Watson.
Hope to hear from you again.
Jean
