Subject: Mary Ann Caswell Craddock
Hello Mike,
I just viewed your Caswell file on
Ancestry.com and saw where you posted
information on Samuel B Craddock.
I have a copy of the marriage license of S B G Craddock to Mary Ann Caswell.
This license was in Desoto Co, MS dated October 8, 1857 signed by Josiah
Greer, M G. Also signing was D Greer as bondsman. David Wait Greer was my
husband's great-grandmother's brother.
On the 1870 census of Desoto Co, MS was
S B Craddock age 38 born AL
Mary Craddock age 38? (hard to read) born GA
James Craddock age 11 m w born AR
Lee Craddock age 9 born AR
Burl Craddock age 7 born AR
Sarah E Craddock age 5 born AR
Mary Craddock age 2 born LA? could be GA
This is the only information I was able to find for them in Desoto Co, MS
and I didn't know what became of this family.
My husband's Craddock line is from S B Craddock's brother James H Craddock.
It appears that the Craddock family moved from AL to Panola Co, MS as I find
them on the Panola Co census in 1860 with the older children being born in
AL. Living near the Nig Roberson house hold. As I understand Elizabeth Darby
widow of Burrell married Nig Roberson in Lauderdale Co, AL prior to the move
to MS. Elizabeth Darby Craddock Roberson was alive in 1860 in Panola Co, MS.
I didn't realize who she was until yesterday so I didn't check the 1870
census while I was at the library.
I have always thought that James H Craddock, Richard A Craddock, S B G
Craddock were closely related but was never able to prove it until now.
James H Craddock and Richard A Craddock are buried in the Greenleaf Cemetery
in Tate Co, MS.
Do you have any more information on the Craddock family that you would be
willing to share?
If I can help you in the Desoto Co, Panola Co and Tate Co Mississippi area
just let me know. I live in Tate County Mississippi in the Greenleaf
community.
Where are you located?
Thanks in advance.
