Bill, she'd probably be better off just going over to the city hall and
either looking herself or have the clerks help her. She should be able to
see his birth certificate which will have where her parents were born. If
in MA it will have what town usually. Maybe the father wasn't listed
because he had died just prior to the birth, or they had separated for
whatever reason?

Subject: [CASWELL list] Caswell's of Springfield. MA
Date: Mon, 5 Mar 2001 16:32:26 EST
Hello all,
Today I received a request for information from a woman in Springfield, MA.
Her father, Ernest Walter Caswell, was born May 1889 in Springfield and his
father's name was George. That is all she knows at this time.
Looking through the Caswell Surname Organization files I found a 1900 census
entry for Ernest W. born 5/1889 son of Cora (Hitchcock) Caswell (born
8/1870)
living in Springfield. George was not mentioned in this entry.
Before I spend too much time digging into this, can any provide more
information on this family?
Thank you for any help you can offer.
