Dear Caswell List--I also have a query about Caswells of New Hampshire.
I'm trying to find out more about my 4th great gran Betty/Elizabeth
Caswell, who married James Godfrey (of Hampton NH) in Northwood NH Oct
25, 1781. They relocated for a time to Vershire VT, and their children
were born between 1787 and 1802.
According to IGI, Betty Caswell was born in 1761 and died in Fitzwilliam
NH 9 Aug 1848, and her father's name was Timothy. But I have no other
verification of this information.
Other Caswells in Northwood NH were Richard, Elijah, Joseph, Thomas and
Timothy. Timothy settled on the Strafford side of a road once referred
to as "The Road to Caswells," on the old Boody farm, with land extending
into
Northwood. Thomas C's land in Northwood adjoined the Godfreys' land.
I am new to Caswell research and know very little about the family. I
don't know how the male Northwood Caswells are related, or what their
antecedents are, and would appreciate any information on any of them, or
on the NH branch of the Caswells in general. Also, are all
Caswells/Carswells descended from one immigrant ancestor, or were there
several lines that came over? Thanks for any and all help you can give.
Best, Michele Stepto
