While most of us detest being annoyed by SPAM, it has become an unfortunate
way of life on the Internet. We have to weight the benefits against the
inconveinces. Rootsweb tries very hard to limit the amount receive, and
our listowners also try very hard to keep the quality in check. These
people deserve our highest respect for their time and effort.
Yes, closing the lists has become the topic of many lists. I agree that it
is good idea. If a person is truly interested, it is easy to subscribe and
to leave the list. However, some criticize that it may limit the input of
information from people who are not interested in joining the list on a
regular basis. Ultimately the decision must be made by the person that
owns the list. We can give our respectful input and reasoning to the
owner, but remember to be polite because these people really do deserve a
lot of respect.
If the listowner wishes, maybe we could hold a vote. Posting the vote to
the owner's email address and not the list. If we have the vote on the
list it could cause an increase in volume on the Rootsweb server and clog
the archives with information that isn't that important for the future.
Thanks for listening. By the way, I am searching for information about
Martin CASWELL. He was married to Cynthia CHAPMAN. They had a child named
Effie CASWELL. Martin was born in about 1841 in Wick, St. Lawrence County,
NY. Cynthia was the daughter of Silas CHAPMAN and Anna Mitchell. She was
born in October 1839 in Wick, St. Lawrence County, NY.
Effie CASWELL married W. John MCCLURE. Hence she ends up being related to
both of my husband's direct lines. Effie was born 2 November 1861 in
Dickenson, Franklin County, NY. She was married in 1883. She died in
1947, and is buried in Fairview Cemetery in Dickenson Center, Franklin
County, NY. W. John MCCLURE was the son of Lucius MCCLURE and Elizabeth
Furnia. He died 1 June 1952 and is buried in Fairview Cemetery, Dickenson
Center, Franklin County, NY. Effie and W. John had a son Guy MCCLURE. Guy
married Sarah DYKE. Guy and Sarah are also buried in Dickenson Center at
Fairview Cemetery with his parents.
Have considerable information about the MCCLURE and CHAPMAN families, and
would be willing to share. Need a bit more information about the CASWELL
family.
Thanks,
Lisa
