Hello List,
Recently, a cousin found a photo of a man identified as H. Caswell or H. M.
Caswell. He is said to be 81 years old, and is standing outside with his
great-grandson, Clifford Albright, who is a small toddler. There is a nice,
large, frame farmhouse house in the background. No trees are visible, but
there are some small bushes. The man and boy are standing quite a ways from
the house. It is hard to tell the age of the photo, but from their clothes,
it may have been taken somewhere around the turn of the century, or a little
later.
I am desperately hoping this is a clue to my elusive Caswell line. My
great-great-grandmother was Electa Jane Caswell, born 11 Mar 1821, somewhere
in New York state. I have reason to believe her father's name may have been
Joseph Caswell. Electa married Justus Hall, Jr. in La Grange Co., IN on 8
Apr 1838. They moved to Bureau Co., IL in 1839. (Joseph Caswell also moved
from La Grange Co., IN to Bureau Co., IL.) Electa and Justus Jr. stayed in
Bureau Co. until 1855 when they moved to Bremer Co., IA. Their last move
was to Jasper Co., MO in 1866. Electa died in 1890.
I believe this H. Caswell, (or H. M. Caswell, it's hard to read), is a
relative of my Electa Caswell, perhaps a younger brother. From further
identification on the back of the photo, it seems that H. Caswell had a
daughter who married an Albright, and had a son. The toddler in the photo
is that son's little boy.
Thank you so much for any assistance, or help in identifying this Caswell.
Does anyone have Albrights in the family?
Always glad to share info.
