Subject: [CASWELL list] Caswell Website, Elijah & Ellsworths
Date: Thu, 31 Jan 2002 20:13:29 EST
Hi Listers!
I just got more memory in my computer so I'm finally able to view Nancy's
webpage without crashing. So many Caswells! And all from
Taunton/Middleboro. My Caswells just HAVE to fit in there somewhere!!
(Unless, as family legend has it, their name was Cassell and they moved
into
town and said, "Hm...here's a fine upstanding family...Why don't we be
Caswells too?!!")
Our line so far, thanks to the researching efforts of Evelyn, Terry, Jack,
Nancy, Mary Ann, Barb, and a host of others...goes "Elijah (Revolutionary
War), Abiather, Elijah -and here we branch off-...then mine is William,
Herbert, Irving Ellsworth and Earl Ellsworth.
What about that Washington Irving Caswell that Nancy mentions on your
website? Who has him? I wonder if my grandfather was named after
him....Then again, my grandfather's name at birth (1883) was Elwin
Ellsworth
Caswell. Changed to Irving Ellsworth Caswell some time before he married
in
1903.
And speaking of Ellsworth, does anybody ELSE have Ellsworth in their
Caswells? I've just discovered a great granddaughter of my William,
through
his son Ira Ellsworth (well, actually she discovered me), so all these guys
must be named after somebody. Anybody have a clue? I've guessed that it's
a
maiden name of someone, but not so far. I got on the mailing list for the
Ellsworth family and nobody there has a clue either.
I"m just getting back into the research mode after my mom having had a
stroke
on December 20. She's doing really well, so things are sort of getting
back
to normal. So if anybody has any ideas, please email me...or if you think
somebody else on the list might want to look through your names, email me
here.
Thanks!
Judy
