Hi Lynne
I have seen your relation in the 1881 census in Bristol.
The reason I noticed the family is because of the Upottery connection.
My gt gt gt grandmother Lydia Farrant who lived in Bristol was also born in
Upottery (in 1801)
The Newton family were living in 1881 in Albert Road St James Bristol.
Best wishes
Paul

This is a long shot , but I'm hoping that you may be able to help. I am
searching for Samual Casswell Newton, who was in the Bristol Police force
in
the 1800's, and has stated that he was born in 1804 in Uppottery
inDevon.
England. My Father has assumed that he was the child of william Newton and
Jane Hurford as all of their children have the middle name of Casswell. I
am
wondering if Samuel may have been registered at Baptism as Casswell
insted
of Casswell Newton. If you have perhaps come across an entry for a Samuel
Casswell born around 1804 in or around Uppottery in Devon I would be most
grateful to hear from you.
Many thanks. Lynne
