CASWELL -
Benjamin F. Caswell was born in Massachusetts May 28, 1828. He came to
Heard County, Georgia as a young man sometime around 1850, and worked as a
farmer for Samuel W. Jackson in the Africa District. He married one of the
Jackson daughters, Charrity Ann, who was born April 25, 1835. They had ten
children:
1. Noah T. (November 25, 1852 / February 22, 1886;
2. George W. (born about 1855) married about 1874 to a Miss Adams;
3. Marion Frank (born 1857);
4. Silvester Monroe (January 31, 1859 / June 10, 1931 married about 1880
to Mary Ann "Fanny" O'Neal;
5. Alice A. (born 1860);
6. Charlotte E. (born 1862);
7. Virginia (born 1864);
8. Elijah "Lige" (September 28, 1866 / October 16, 1941) married Alice M.
Howell;
9. Robert L. (born about 1868-9) married M.A. Brittain;
10. David S. (born April 28, 1874) married Ida Brittain.
B.F. Caswell served with the "Heard County Rangers" during the Civil War.
Benjamin died May 5, 1898. Charrity died August 1, 1906. Both are buried
in Adamson Cemetery.
Silvester Monroe Caswell, fourth son of Benjamin Caswell, settled in Blue
Shin District at Roosterville. He married Francis Maryann O'Neal on
November 7, 1862. She died May 15, 1933. She was the daughter of Reuben
E. & Francis Booth O'Neal. Silvester owned a farm and "Fannie", as his
wife was called, was nurse and midwife to the community. They were active
members of Antioch Baptist Church. They had nine children:
1. Judson Monroe (March 7, 1881 / June 10, 1962) married Elizabeth Jane
Maxwell;
2. Eva P. (May 22, 1883 / February 9, 1952) married James M. Maxwell;
3. Alice A. (January 1885 / December 10, 1939) married John Thomas
Pennington;
4. Arthur E. (November 6, 1887 / May 24, 1928) married Eurah Hall;
5. Amos Cleveland (September 15, 1889 / December 11, 1973) married Minnie
Leona Davis;
6. Lora F. (born March 1891) married Lee Olin McIntosh;
7. Bernie A. (born November, 1892) married Walter Bryant;
8. Wade F. (born December 1895) married Lara Bell, Eurah Hall (September
13, 1903 / March 28, 1922).
Silvester Caswell died June 10, 1931; his wife Francis Maryann, on May 15,
1933. Both are buried in Antioch Cemetery, Heard County.

Caswell, B. F. (or Carswell) - He enlisted as a Private on May 10, 1863
and was captured at Vicksburg, Mississippi on July 4, 1863. He was paroled
there on July 6, 1863. He was attached to Oliver Hospital at LaGrange,
Georgia on September 27, 1863, and was a patient there on January 18, 1864.
