Hi Mike
In reference to your message. Sometime ago I had come across a PAF file that
was written by Mary E. Garbutt of Coldwater Ontario. You will have to take
this information with a grain of salt. I have not personally searched the
information. I had been corresponding with Sylvia Best about the information
and I am forwarding it to you.
I had found a Samuel Caswell b. abt 1706 in Doonass,Clare Co. Ireland d.
25 Dec 1804 location unknown. I have no information on a spouse as of yet.
However he did have a listing of 2 Sons first being Andrew of your listing
in the Blackwater.Zip and Henry. Henry was born in 1766. Death is unknown.
Henry was married to a Catherine Piper b. 1770.
There was one daughter in this listing Margaret who was b. 9 Jun 1792 in
Doonass and d. 5 Mar 1867 in Oro Twp, Simcoe Co. Ontario. She is buried at
Leighs Corners in Oro. Appearently she married William Baskerville b. 1 Mar
1784 Youghalarra, N Tipperary, Ireland. d. 20 Dec 1860 Oro Twp, Simcoe Co.,
Ontario and buried also at Lieghs Corners in Oro. William Baskervilles
Parents were James Baskerville b. abt 1758 in Youghalarra, N Tipperary,
Ireland. His wife was Mary Keegan b. 1762 inYoughalarra, N Tipperary,
Ireland There was one daughter Elizabeth b.abt 1829 Younghal, N Tipperary,
Ireland and christened at Castletownarra, N tipperary Co., Ireland. She died
9 Feb 1901 in Orillia.
I had her listed as marrying Nathaniel Caswell of the Andrew and Ann
O'Connor that resided in Carleton Place, Ontario. I was wondering if this
was the link that Mike was looking for. This information has come from Mary
Garbutt in Near Coldwater, Ontario. It was posted on the PAF site. She has
done extensive research on Coldwater area families. In any case this is the
only info I have found for the Henry Caswell Line. I was thinking, since
there is a large spread between Andrew and Henry Caswell: there should be
more children.
It might be worth contacting Mary E. Garbutt in Coldwater to verify this
information.

Subject: [CASWELL list] Great News! The Wiltshire /Ireland connection is
solved.
For years, I have been trying to solve the mystery of how the Caswell
and
Baskerville names were connected to Blackwater area in Limerick/ Cork area
of S Ireland.
AND TODAY I FOUND IT! Right under my nose for ages. (Isn't that typical)
Thomas Baskerville, a grandson of Thomas Baskeville and Mary Jones of
Richarston, Wiltshire, married (2) Jane BISHOP daughter of Thomas BISHOP.
Jane was born in 1749 in Kinsale, Ireland (of). She died on 22 Jan 1809 in
Mildenhall.
Here is undisputable proof that the Baskervilles were in the Blackwater
area
farming prior to the commencement of C & T Harris of Calne being
established
in 1770. They were obviously seasoned travellers to the area, showing
that
shipping was travelling across from Cork frequently. We know that the pigs
were a great resource of the area, and that they were being driven through
Wiltshire towards London, and that Harris was buying up all the weaklings
for bacon.
This now means that there MUST be a connection between the Caswells and
Baskervilles of Blackwater, Ireland, and with a bit of easy work, I think
we
can now find the links.
SO, to all those Canadian Caswells of Blackwater descent (Shirley Mayse
research), - thee be MOONRAKERS!!!!!
Have a great day!!!!!
