Fellow List Members:
There has been some confusion as to what Yahoo is demanding from the people
who had web sites at Geocities. I thought this post from another list
might
help explain the new Yahoo "use agreement" that is now in
effect as part of
their takeover of Geocities. Yahoo has tried to say that they NEED this
kind of agreement in case they want to feature your website on their front
page as advertisement., among other things. Yeah, that's right, they're
only asking for the ...."royalty-free, perpetual, irrevocable,
non-exclusive
and fully sublicensable right and license to use, reproduce, modify,
adapt,
publish, translate, create derivative works from,
distribute....worldwide....in any form....now known or later developed."
What's next? The deed to your house? :-)
