Betty,
> There were several Samuel Briggs' mentioned in the book
"John Briggs of
Sandwich, Mass." by Edna Anne Hannibal. However I found
no Mary Hall but I
did find several other Halls.<<
I have no pedigree on the Samuel Briggs that was Mary Hall's first husband.
However I do have a BRIGGs line that immigrated directly into Taunton, MA:
============================================================
Name: William BRIGGS Sex: M
Birth: Abt 1649 Place: ,,Gloucestershire,England
Chr: Place: Thornbury,Gloucester,,England
Marr: 6 Nov 1666 Spouse: Sarah MACUMBER-12436
Death: 3 Jan 1728 Place: Taunton,Bristol,MA
Burial: Place: Taunton,Bristol,MA,Oakland Cem.
Father: John Sr. BRIGGS-12444 Mother: Agnes THAYER-12445
============================================================
Mary Hall's first husband could well have come from this line, but I do NOT
have the connection.
>1 John Briggs
2 Samuel Briggs m. abt. 1664 Bennet
Ellis.
No will was found for Samuel or his wife and the dates of death are
unknown. Could he have married a second time to a much younger woman? He
was found in a lot of Rochester land sale records. Could this be the
connection?
He was second in line in my ancestors and Peleg was 6. Not a close
relationship but if they all stayed in the same area, the families could
have maintained relationships. His last child with Benet was born abt.
1677-78. I estimate that this Samuel was born about 1640 - 44 so he would
have been maybe 28 - 30 years older than Mary Hall. Possibly this is why
Mary Hall had a second husband.<<
This does seem just possible.
